These are organizations which are either wholly or partly sponsored and supported by ISODEC to undertake specialized functions. They are registered as autonomous organizations with their own articles of establishment and regulatory structures including Boards. These are:
1) Public Agenda - a newspaper, which currently publishes twice a week. Its objective is to promote democratic participation, articulate social justice principles and defend the poor. It is published by PA Publications and generates a significant proportion of its operational cost.
2) Cedi Finance Foundation (CFF) - a micro-finance institution currently operating in the Kumasi Metropolis. It provides largely micro-credit services to very small scale entrepreneurs, mainly women. CFF's loan portfolio is expected to reach the billion cedi mark by close of 2006. In addition to CFF, ISODEC also provides substantial support to the Bawku-East Small Scale Farmers Association (BESSFA) Rural Bank of which it is a majority shareholder.
3) The Centre for Public Interest Law (CEPIL) promotes the public interest wherever these are violated by those with, or in, power (be they governmental or corporate), and to defend the interest of the poor. CEPIL has provided legal support services to the WASSA people fighting unjust treatment by mining companies. They are also active in defence of prisoners' rights and the right of squatters to shelter. CEPIL provides general legal advice services and internship for law students.
